When I stumbled across the black house, I thought I found a gem – In fact I found two! Els is the perfect host. She welcomed us such warm hearted as if we would’ve known each other for years; she had even prepared several snacks for us. And while she was showing us around, I became more and more speechless. The house is a designer’s dreamland and it’s not only outstandingly beautiful, but also really functional and well thought threw the tiniest detail. You can find something interesting in every single corner, so it almost felt like living in an art exhibition. For all the chefs I can say that the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped – plus there is a wonderful patio to fulfill all your braai dreams. And there’s nothing better than waking up in a perfectly cozy king size bed and going to the garden to grab some fresh fruits for your breakfast. The garden itself is peaceful and lush and the pool has just the right size to get some cold freshness on a hot day. Also there are two huge bath rooms, but the outside shower right within the greenery was the place to be. From there we could always watch the cute weaver birds building their nests in the trees. Els was always available for us and answered all of our questions within minutes. I’ve never felt more comfortable in an Airbnb and was really sad to leave Robertson. But I will definitely return to this place. For the house – and for Els.

I come from Joburg and I thought I knew the Cape well, but in Els' Black House I feel like I have found a new secret treasure. It's one of the most stylish, gorgeous houses I have holidayed in with only the best amenities, luxury linen and towels and special touches everywhere. The mega double shower has to be experienced! Els' house was also homely, relaxed and spacious enough for 6 of us.

This is a perfect celebration house and the best moments were spent sipping champagne on the large patio under fairy lights, with food cooking on a blazing fire. I went for runs in Robertson which has quaint gems like the family-run butcher and the bakery. The Black House is also a skip hop and jump from Springfield farm which makes some or our favourite wine. Els is from Belgium where my sister now lives and her warmth and hospitality was just the cherry on top. The Black House is magic and I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

We couldn't have wished to find a more beautiful space to spend the weekend with close friends. The interior, decor, furniture, art features & amenities are absolutely incredible. From the super comfortable linen, to the abundance of clean towels, beautiful little pool, amazing outside braai area to a fully kitted kitchen, radio/TV/sound system - I am certain we would not have left the house had we not had a wedding to attend. Els was the most wonderful, kind and generous host and it was such a treat to be left wine, milk, tea/coffee, granola&yoghurt, a fruit bowl and even a lemon meringue pie! Super SUPER host!

The Black House is most definitely a place to book & stay! We spent 2nights in Robertson, one of them was over New Years eve and we had the most loveliest time with our friends. The house has so many amenities that one could want and more. Els was a fantastic host and went above what we have ever received through our Airbnb stays... she even left us a delicious lemon meringue tart (THANK YOU ELS WE LOVED IT) for us to enjoy! The interiors and personal touches are fantastic and I cannot begin to explain how unique The Black House is. It goes without saying that I will most definitely return.

Loved every second of it - the house was stunning. If you love design and detail you will love this place. Every room is beautiful, from the outside shower to the bedrooms, completely gorgeous. And Els the host is incredible from the welcome touches to her warmth and incredible attitude - she made it even better than a place can be when it’s perfect. Plus the area is incredible with wine farms everywhere so I highly recommend this place (and I don’t normally!)

We had the most amazing stay in Els' beautiful house. We arrived late on Friday to a very welcoming host and a lit fireplace :) The house has everthing you need and more - beautifully decorated rooms,a great lounge dining area with a fireplace that was so cosy for the winter. The outside entertainment area is fantastic with a braai and pool and a well kept garden. We even had some of her home grown fruits! There were a map of all the surrounding wine farms and activities, as well as recommendations for restaurants. Great host and a beautiful house - highly recommended!!
